Spirit of Soccer has received several awards and recognitions for its work educating children in some of the world's most dangerous communities. In 2009 Spirit of Soccer founder and CEO Scott Lee was awarded the 'Most Courageous Use of Sport Award' at the Beyond Sport Awards in London, UK and in 2010 Spirit of Soccer was shortlisted for the Non-Governmental Organization of the Year Award at the Sport and Peace Awards in Monaco.
In 2010 a delegation of boys and girls from Spirit of Soccer in Cambodia were awarded the FIFA Fair Play Trophy at the Football for Hope Festival 2010 in Johannesburg, South Africa - the first trophy ever awarded to a Cambodian team at an official FIFA competition.
Since 2007 Spirit of Soccer has received recognition in the form of funding from both the Football for Hope movement led by FIFA and streetfootballworld and from the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation.
