Heang, a native Cambodian born in a Thai refugee camp, developed his passion for soccer while playing in the refugee camp as a child. Heang is a former provincial soccer selection team player and has worked for Spirit of Soccer since 2006 as a Mine Risk Education (MRE) soccer coach. He holds an Asian Football Confederation (AFC) "C" license for soccer coaching and participated in the adidas Exchange program in India 2010 where he completed a Coerver Coaching course. Heang led the SOS Football for Hope team to its FIFA Fair Play Award at the Football for Hope Festival 2010 in South Africa and participated in an exchange program in Germany in 2011. Heang works as a Technical Adviser and helps develop curriculum and train SOS coaches in Cambodia and Laos in addition to his coaching duties. He is currently studying for his bachelor degree in business management and was featured in the book "Eleven", which contains stories of how soccer can transform the lives of disadvantaged people around the world.
